The decision of sending riders into the finals is under the sole discretion of the DMU. Excluding those riders who are put straight through to the finals and depending on the number of other riders that enter the competition, the number of semifinals may be either one or two. The selection of riders for these rounds is done on the basis of race average from the previous Danish season. If there is one semifinal then the top placed riders and two reserves pass through to the finals, however if there are two semifinals then the top placed riders are again selected with just one reserve to be sent into the finals. The winner in the finals is declared the Danish Individual Champion and a gold medal is awarded to him. A silver and bronze is awarded to riders who finish second and third respectively. The results of the Danish Individual Championships help the top positions in qualifying for World Speedway Individual Championship. The Junior Individual Speedway Championship is for riders with a Danish passport, below age of 21 and who have a DMU license. These riders must submit their entries four weeks before the first competition meeting. There are four quarter finals; if there are 72 or more entries, three quarter-finals for number of entries ranging from 54 to 71 and two semifinals for any number of entries less than 54. Riders here are selected as per the previous season averages in Danish races only. The winner of the finals becomes the Junior Individual Speedway Championship and even gets a gold medal with the runners up getting silver and bronze. Those who finish in the top five automatically qualify for the World Speedway Junior Championships. For young riders between the ages of eight to eighteen, there are the Youth Leagues where 80cc bikes are approved for racing use and for children from the age of three to ten, 50cc bikes are used in the category known as the Micro League. There is also an Old Boys league for those riders who are over the age of 33. |
