During 1980 and 1981, he secured second place in both Danish and European Formula Ford 2000 Championships. International crowd recognized him as a true sports racer when he fetched first position in German Formula 3 Volkswagen Championship in the year 1986. In year 1988, he used to ride Porsche 961 in all Japan Sports prototype championships. During that championship, he encountered an accident in which he was badly injured leading severe wound to his face and body. During 1989 and 1992, Kris drove with several teams in DTM with the support of BMW m3. In the year 1992, he conquered the Nordic touring car cup and during half of the season he replaced injured Alain Menu at the racing championship of British touring car. Kris finished at runner up position in ADAC GT cup and after 1993 he took big leap in his racing performance. He continued to drive for Germany and competed in German STW super touring cup in the year 1995. During his entire racing career Kris Nissen has participated in 289 races with winning percentage of 5.54%. In the year 1991, he raced for the DTM and secured 1st place in 24 hours Nurburgring BMW and touring car Grand Prix Denmark championships. In final two year of his career, Kris competed in V8star series and secured sixth place in championship for consecutive two years. Throughout his career, Kris Nissen was famous for his ability to complete fast laps at the very crucial moment of the race and he really pushed his career to the extreme limits for significant period of time. The greatest measure of any sports driver is his performance and reaction to the wet tracks, because delicate control on car and sensitivity is required to give the best shot at the right time. Kris Nissen has all these capabilities and like other great drivers, he has rarely shown any mistake on wet tracks and terrible conditions. |
