Danish Thunder Sport Championship

Danish Thunder Sport ChampionshipDanish Thunder Sports Championship is a motorsport that is going to become a reality from 2012 and this will involve a new class of racing cars, which is all thanks to the technical regulations that are in place for this, that will give the sport a good show and will also be affordable. These race cars have been built in the US specifically for this class of racing.

The outer body of these cars is a Chevrolet Camaro look alike but under the bonnet lays a big engine with a tubular frame for a chassis. The essence of these cars is that it is very powerful and still uses simple components, which helps keeping the costs down.

Former champion of many series on Danish racetracks, Jan Magnussen, will be one of the drivers who will participate in the Danish Thunder Sport Championship. He has also used this type of race car to run a series of different races. There is also hope of other famous drivers like John Nielsen and Casper Elgaard, who would also come forward to race in these series where many new drivers will try to take on the old stars. Ring Djursland is the race track that has been chosen for these types of races, but since the race will have only one type of car, the race track seems rather broad for this type of racing.

Due to the cost benefits the concept of this type of racing has really become popular and several Danish drivers, even those who are mostly active outside the country have show keen interest here. Some of the influential people in Danish racing who are all for the Danish Thunder Sport Championship are Michel Nykjær, Kristian Poulsen, Michael Carlsen etc

There will be 6 to 7 races spread between the Danish courts, which will also give racers the opportunity to visit Ring Knut Track. The races will be aired on national TV and all the races will have the full support of the DTC in term of marketing and sponsorship, which will be on the same level as the Danish Touringcar Championship.
