The Danish Touringcar Championship (DTC) has been the mainstay of Danish Motor Racing over the last few years. However with DTC merging with the STCC series which is the Scandinavian Touring Car Championship, there has been lesser interest shown in racing on Danish soil in both spectators and participants.
The biggest reason for this is the global financial crisis and the blame does not solely go on the absence of the national DTC class. DTC Motorsport still wholly supports the development of the STCC and with the DTC presence in the STCC, the presence of the national class teams will remain as strong as possible in these championships.
The car regulations for the championships are as follow.
- The engine to be used in the car should have a maximum displacement between 1600cc to 2500cc. The drivers are allowed to use the engine from the same automotive group, in a case where there are no suitable engines to be used for the cars you choose to participate with. For engine switches in the car, a form needs to be filled with the DTC organization. The engine whether changed or not changed should retain its original position in the car.
- Both left and right hand drive cars may be used.
- The ground clearance of the car should be maintained at not more than 6cm.
- The heating and air condition system in the car need to be removed and the front windscreen need to have an effective de-mister.
- The drivers and teams are free to change the exhaust systems; however the original catalytic converter should be used. The noise level should be a maximum 110db.
- Supercharging via a turbo charger is allowed for engines whose displacement is not more that 2000cc. The equipment should be the original car company fitting i.e. the exhaust manifold and intake manifold. If the other engine brands are of the same dimension, then it is allowed to install a turbo charger.
The DTC races take place at FDM Jyllandsringen, which is located in the heart of Jutland in Denmark. The registration for the championship needs to be made through the secretariat of DTC Motorsports. The teams that take part are encouraged to reduce the number of participants in their team so that more teams get the opportunity to race. |
